  • 2–3 Large mixing bowls For wet and dry ingredients
  • 1 set Measuring cups/spoons Standard
  • 1–2 Wire cooling racks For cooling cake layers
  • 1 Offset spatula For spreading cream
  • 1 Saucepan For cherry filling

Ingredients

  • 100 g dark chocolate melted
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour sifted
  • ½ cup cocoa powder unsweetened
  • 1 ½ cups sugar granulated
  • 4 eggs room temperature
  • ½ cup butter softened
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract pure
  • 2 cups heavy cream cold
  • 2 cups fresh cherries pitted
  • ¼ cup kirsch liqueur optional
  • ½ cup powdered sugar for whipped cream
  • ½ cup dark chocolate shavings for garnish
  • 8–10 maraschino cherries garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat oven, grease pans
  • Mix dry ingredients
  • Mix wet ingredients
  • Combine wet and dry ingredients, bake 25–30 minutes
  • Make cherry filling with juice, sugar, cornstarch, kirsch
  • Whip cream with sugar
  • Brush cake layers with kirsch syrup
  • Layer cake with cream and cherries
  • Cover with cream, garnish with shavings and cherries
  • Chill 2 hours before serving
