Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line and grease a 9×9-inch baking pan.
Melt butter for brownie layer and mix with sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
Stir in flour, cocoa powder, and salt until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
Spread brownie batter in prepared pan. Chill in freezer for 10 minutes.
Cream softened butter with both sugars for cookie layer until light and fluffy.
Beat in egg and vanilla until smooth.
In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix into wet ingredients until combined.
Fold in chocolate chips.
Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough over chilled brownie batter and spread evenly.
Bake for 25–30 minutes, until the cookie top is golden and a toothpick comes out with crumbs.
Cool in the pan for at least 30 minutes before lifting out and slicing.
