Ingredients
  

For the Brownie Layer:

  • ½ cup Unsalted butter Melted
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 Eggs Room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • ½ cup All-purpose flour Spoon & level for accurate measurement
  • cup Unsweetened cocoa powder Dutch-process optional
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt
  • ½ cup Semi-sweet chocolate chips

For the Cookie Layer:

  • ½ cup Unsalted butter Softened
  • ¼ cup Granulated sugar
  • cup Light brown sugar Packed
  • 1 Egg Room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup All-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon Baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt
  • ½ cup Chocolate chips Any type – semi-sweet or milk chocolate
  • Optional Flaky sea salt For sprinkling on top before baking

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line and grease a 9×9-inch baking pan.
  • Melt butter for brownie layer and mix with sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
  • Stir in flour, cocoa powder, and salt until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
  • Spread brownie batter in prepared pan. Chill in freezer for 10 minutes.
  • Cream softened butter with both sugars for cookie layer until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in egg and vanilla until smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix into wet ingredients until combined.
  • Fold in chocolate chips.
  • Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough over chilled brownie batter and spread evenly.
  • Bake for 25–30 minutes, until the cookie top is golden and a toothpick comes out with crumbs.
  • Cool in the pan for at least 30 minutes before lifting out and slicing.
