Gingerbread Bars

Ingredients

  • 2 ¼ cups All-purpose flour sifted
  • 1 teaspoon Ground ginger fresh for best flavor
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon Ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon Ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • ½ cup Unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup Brown sugar packed
  • ½ cup Molasses room temperature
  • 2 large Eggs room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 4 oz Cream cheese softened, for frosting
  • 2 cups Powdered sugar for frosting
  • 2 tablespoon Milk for frosting

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and line a 9x13 pan with parchment.
  • Whisk flour, spices, baking soda, salt in a bowl.
  • Beat butter and brown sugar until fluffy.
  • Add molasses, eggs, vanilla, mix well.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients until just combined.
  • Spread batter in pan, bake 25–30 min.
  • Place pan on wire rack, cool fully.
  • Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk until smooth, spread on cooled bars.
  • Cut into bars and serve.
