Ingredients

  • 4 cups bread flour Plus extra for dusting
  • teaspoons active dry yeast 1 standard packet
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • cups warm water 110-115°F
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large Egg For egg wash
  • 1 tablespoon water For egg wash

Instructions

  • Activate yeast in warm water with sugar
  • Mix flour and salt in a bowl
  • Add yeast mixture and olive oil
  • Knead dough until smooth
  • Let dough rise until doubled
  • Divide and shape into 6 balls
  • Let shaped dough rise
  • Brush with egg wash and score tops
  • Bake at 400°F for 22-25 minutes
  • Cool completely before cutting

Notes

  • Dough should be slightly tacky but not sticky
  • Can be made ahead and frozen for up to 3 months
  • Best served same day as baking
  • Store in airtight container up to 2 days
