Egg wash
1 beaten egg + 1 tablespoon water
Instructions
Peel and finely chop apples; combine with dried fruits, peels, sugar, and spices.
Add butter, juices, and brandy; simmer 25–30 minutes until thick. Cool.
Combine flour, sugar, salt, and cold butter until crumbly.
Add egg yolk and water; mix until dough forms. Chill 30 minutes.
Roll dough and fit into 9-inch pie dish.
Spoon in cooled mincemeat filling evenly.
Roll top crust, seal edges, and cut vents.
Apply egg wash for golden color.
Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 45–50 minutes.
Cool at least 2 hours before slicing.
Notes
You can make the filling up to a week in advance and store it in the fridge for deeper flavor.
