Ingredients

Crust

  • 2 ½ cups All-purpose flour for crust
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter cold, cubed
  • 6 tablespoon Cold water adjust as needed

Filling

  • 1 lb Ground beef or Italian sausage choose preferred protein
  • 1 ½ cups Marinara sauce store-bought or homemade
  • 1 ½ cups Mozzarella cheese shredded
  • ¼ cup Parmesan cheese shredded
  • 1 cup Bell peppers diced
  • ½ cup Onion chopped
  • ½ cup Mushrooms sliced
  • 12 slices Pepperoni optional
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning optional
  • ½ teaspoon Garlic powder optional
  • ¼ teaspoon Black pepper optional
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil for sautéing
  • 1 large Egg for egg wash

Instructions

  • Mix flour and salt in a bowl
  • Cut in cold butter
  • Add water gradually and form dough
  • Chill dough for 30 minutes
  • Brown meat in skillet
  • Add onions, peppers, mushrooms
  • Stir in sauce and seasonings
  • Let filling cool and add cheese
  • Roll out bottom crust in pan
  • Add filling, layer pepperoni
  • Top with second crust, seal edges
  • Brush with egg, cut steam vents
  • Bake at 425°F for 15 min, then 375°F for 25–30 min
  • Rest for 10 min before serving
