Ingredients

Galette Base

  • 1 sheet puff pastry thawed

Apple Filling

  • 3–4 medium apples peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 2 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For Brushing & Glazing

  • 1 egg beaten, for egg wash
  • 1 tablespoon milk to mix with egg for wash
  • 1 pinch coarse sugar optional, for sprinkling

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, toss sliced apples with brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and vanilla extract.
  • Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface into a 12-inch round.
  • Arrange the apple mixture in the center, leaving a 2-inch border around the edges.
  • Fold the edges of the pastry over the apples, pleating as you go to form a rustic crust.
  • Beat the egg with milk in a small bowl. Brush the pastry edges with egg wash and sprinkle with coarse sugar if desired.
  • Bake for 35 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  • Let the galette cool slightly before serving. Optional: glaze with warmed apricot jam for extra shine.
  • Slice and serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Try adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream when serving for an extra treat!
