Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
Melt dark chocolate and butter together using a double boiler or microwave. Let cool slightly.
Whisk in sugar, eggs, and vanilla into the chocolate mixture until smooth.
Fold in flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Do not overmix.
Pour into prepared pan and bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
Cool brownies on a wire rack. Poke holes over the surface with a skewer.
Brush espresso or coffee evenly over the brownie surface using a pastry brush.
Whip heavy cream and powdered sugar with an electric mixer to soft peaks.
Fold in mascarpone cheese and coffee liqueur (if using) until smooth.
Spread the mascarpone mixture over cooled brownies evenly.
Chill for at least 4 hours. Dust with cocoa powder before serving.
