  • 2 Mixing bowls various sizes
  • 1 Electric mixer or whisk for cream cheese layer
  • 1 Rubber spatula to spread layers
  • 1 Measuring cups/spoons standard set
  • 1 Knife for chopping pecans and chocolate shavings
  • 1 Plastic wrap for storage

Ingredients

Crust Base

  • 2 cups Chocolate cake crumbs or graham cracker crumbs for crust base
  • 0.5 cup Butter melted

Cream Cheese Layer

  • 8 oz Cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar sifted
  • 8 oz Whipped topping half of total, for cream layer

Pudding Layer

  • 2 boxes Instant chocolate pudding mix standard 3.9 oz boxes
  • 3 cups Milk cold
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract optional

Topping

  • 8 oz Whipped topping remaining half, for top layer
  • 0.25 cup Pecans chopped for garnish
  • 2 tablespoon Chocolate shavings for topping

Instructions

  • Make the crust: In a bowl, combine chocolate crumbs and melted butter. Press mixture into the bottom of a 9x13 inch glass baking dish. Set aside.
  • Blend the cream layer: In a mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Fold in half of the whipped topping.
  • Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the crust using a spatula.
  • Prepare the pudding: Whisk cold milk with pudding mix and optional vanilla until thickened.
  • Layer the pudding over the cream layer and smooth out. Top with remaining whipped topping.
  • Garnish with chopped pecans and chocolate shavings. Cover with plastic wrap and chill for at least 1 hour before serving.

Notes

This no-bake dessert is best served chilled and can be made a day ahead. Swap nuts or add fruit to customize it!
